Traditionally, acupuncture is believed to help restore the balance of Qi ("Chi") an energy that flows through channels known as meridians to nourish the body and mind, while helping to correct imbalances. This is achieved by inserting hair-thin needles into specific points in the body.

Modern science has validated the positive effects of acupuncture, specifically acupuncture's ability to stimulate local blood and oxygen flow and its ability to release chemicals in the body that can have a positive effect on pain and mood. Acupuncture has been medically endorsed for use to address pain and help regulate chemical and hormonal release.
